Everything just....clicked....
It's been a busy week. We put the house on the market and I spent 8 hours over two evenings after work doing the last cleaning before the brokers came in for their showing. It's nice to have a nice clean house. The upkeep is simple as long as no one else is messing it up. And that has been simplified by the fact that John is down in Florida ogling topless women at some beach, and Gene is in San Francisco at his new job.

So I sit here, all alone....*sigh*

BUT, over the weekend we went on an excellent adventure on Saturday. A friend from work was getting married and we got invited (well, we were on the "B" list so got a late invitation, but I was still thrilled to be invited). So I took my trusty charged-up digital Nikon and we drove two hours down the shore to arrive for an 11:00 wedding.

It was beautiful, but hot as all hell. The ceremony was outdoors, and slightly delayed, so we all kinda sweltered for a while. But that was ok because my friend Thom and his girl Lisa was getting married, and it was a really good day for it...and for my camera.

I actually amazed myself by getting some of the best pictures I've ever taken in my life. I don't know if my exposure to flickr.com has helped my eye find the best moments, or if I just finally figured out my camera, or if maybe my reflexes were just that good that day, but I captured such great moments. Of course it really helped that the both of them have such expressive and exuberant faces and personalities. I was so pleased with the results I spent part of the next day in photoshop improving on them and adding frames and special effects. Then I posted some to flickr.com and got some positive feedback from a contact whose photography I really admire.

But enough about me, let's look at the pictures: 

So I started thinking....can I make money at this? Should I take this move to California as a signal to get serious about photography? Or did I just have a really good day?  Would I risk the enjoyment and relaxation I get from a "hobby" if I turn it into a business?  That's happened once before with me.  I function much better when I can just be creative without the pressure of a business.  I'm not much of a businessperson I guess.

I think doing it for free is quite a reward in itself.
